The Metro Richmond Zoo is excited to announce Ice Age Invasion, a limited-time exhibit where guests can journey thousands of years into the past to encounter remarkable prehistoric animals.

Come face-to-face with life-size animatronics of animals that once roamed the Earth, including the iconic woolly mammoth, saber-toothed cat, giant ground sloth, and more. With realistic movement and sound, these creatures will bring the Ice Age to life for guests of all ages. Along the way, visitors can learn about these extinct animals and the world they once lived in.

• Dinornis (Giant moa)

• Doedicurus

• Entelodon

• Woolly mammoth

• Macrauchenia patagonica

• Megaloceros giganteus (Giant deer)

• Megatherium (Giant ground sloth)

• Mesohippus

• Smilodon (Saber-toothed cat)

Ice Age Invasion is included with regular zoo admissionand will be open during normal park operating hours. The exhibit will run for a limited time from August 29 through October 31, 2026, in the forested area at the back of the zoo near the lemurs.
