PORT CLINTON, Ohio, May 21, 2026 — African Safari Wildlife Park is excited to announce the arrival of a female Giant Eland calf named Julip, born on May 9, 2026.

Julip was born to mother Aerie and father Beau and is already exploring her habitat alongside the herd at the park.

Giant Elands are the largest species of antelope in the world and are native to the grasslands and forests of Central and West Africa. Adult males can weigh over 2,000 pounds and are known for their impressive spiral horns and surprising agility despite their large size.

Despite their powerful build, Giant Elands are generally calm animals and are excellent jumpers, capable of clearing heights of more than six feet from a standing position. They primarily feed on grasses, leaves, and other vegetation.

Guests visiting the Drive-Thru Safari may have the opportunity to spot Julip with the herd as she continues to grow.

The Ohio Safari Park, African Safari Wildlife Park, is located at 267 S. Lightner Rd. in Port Clinton, Ohio.
